Archives For Giveaways

Tonight, I get to cross something off of my bucket list and meet one of my personal heroes.  After hearing that Phil Vischer, of Veggie Tales and What’s in the Bible fame, would be speaking less than two hours from me, my wife purchased tickets for the two of us.  I grew up a huge fan of Veggie Tales, but as I grew further into my calling towards children’s ministry, I became an admirer of the creator over the creation.  I’ve often said, to both family and friends, that I am exactly where God wants me and I am not leaving for any reason, unless Phil calls and offers me a job and then I will resign immediately.  I say this for two reasons.  One, it’s never gonna happen.  Two, I would love to be a part of the great work that Phil does and see that as a great opportunity for ministry in and of itself.

While I will be unable to get off of work in time to catch Phil for the book signing, I will at least get to hear him speak, and that is exciting to me.  I’m hoping that there will be an opportunity after the event to at least shake his hand and get my picture taken with him.  That would be a dream come true.  (Truthfully, I dreamt about it two nights in a row after my wife told me she had purchased the tickets.)

Okay, enough about me.  You’re here for one reason and that is to win a copy of What’s in the Bible.  I am giving away a copy of What’s in the Bible DVD 1.  I reviewed this video a while back.  All you need to do is tweet the following: “@pastorjaredm is giving away a copy of @whatsinthebible. Go here to enter http://wp.me/p1lgcL-eC #kidmin”  If you are not on twitter (shame on you) you can just leave a comment below telling me how you would use your copy of What’s in the Bible.

One final thing, despite what some people may argue (ahem, Wendy) I am not a creepy stalker.  However, Phil V. is like my Steve Jobs.  The way some people get about Jobs and all of his iTech, I get that way about Phil and whatever he is working on.  Like I said, he is one of my heroes.  His innovation and commitment have served to inspire me through the years.  I even dabbled in animation for a little while.  I’m not very good at it, but it stretched me to learn something new.

**I was provided this copy of What’s in the Bible by two of the fabulous ladies who work with Phil on the project.  I had a great conversation with them at Orange Conference and they graciously gave me this DVD to give away.  Thanks Melanie and Susan!

On Wednesday, I posted my review of Ryan Frank’s new book, 9 Things They Didn’t Teach Me in College About Children’s Ministry.  I was provided a free copy of the book to give away to one of you!  I absolutely love giving stuff away.

All you need to do to get a chance at winning this book is leave a comment below by midnight on April 18, 2011 telling me something you didn’t know when you first started in children’s ministry.  It can be funny or serious, but it should be true.

Here are a couple of other chances to get a free copy.

Leave a comment on the Cory Center’s review by tonight at midnight.

Leave a comment on Dad in the Middle’s review. (No end date listed, but probably soon)

Leave a comment on Thoughts from a Youth Minister. (Again, no end date listed).

Leave a comment on Evangechef or tweet “@dougolson is giving away a copy of @r_frank book at http://evangechef.blogspot.com” by Monday, April 18.

Leave a comment on Lemon Lime Kids by Sunday, April 17.

Leave a comment on Saved Sister’s blog by tonight.

Tweet “@KidMin360 is giving away 9 Things…visit here for details: http://wp.me/pPeCk-15c #KidMin #KidMin360″ or leave a comment on the Kidmin360 Facebook page for a chance to get an autographed copy of this book.

Seriously, if you really want a free copy, that’s at least 8 chances to get one.

**UPDATE: Our winner was Heather!  Congratulations Heather and thanks to those of you who left comments.  I loved reading the things you have learned.

Just in case you missed it, I am giving away a copy of Thomas Nelson’s Read and Share Bible.  I recently reviewed the Read and Share Bible here on Small Town Kidmin.

All you need to do to be entered is leave a comment at the bottom of the Happy Birthday post.  I’m going to be selecting a winner at 11:59 CST tonight, so you better get your comment in quick!

Y-MegaphonePreReleaseCoverOkay, I’m gonna just get out there and confess this right up front.  Up until this past week, I had never actually listened to Yancy’s music.  Truth be told, I had not even heard of her until about six months ago when I started using twitter.

Well, Yancy has a new fan and his name is Jared (that’s me, by the way).  The first song I heard by Yancy was a single, “Make It Loud,” from her new album that she is giving away for free here.  You need a twitter account to get the download, but if you don’t have one, it would be worth your while to start one just to get the download.

So, there’s your free resource, a free Yancy track, just to wet your whistle.  But if you find yourself liking her single, go ahead and head into her website where you can listen to the whole album, Stars, Guitars, and Megaphone Dreams, also for free (just to listen, not to download).

While I had never heard Yancy’s actual music, I have heard he speak about her heart for worship in all ages.  Her music reflects that heart as she creates music that spans generations and is VERY biblically based.  As for Yancy’s personal character, she is a great role model for young girls to look up to and we don’t have to worry about her pulling a Miley on us.

I totally recommend you downloading her free single, listening to her album online, and even browsing around and buying something if you’re interested.  There are also some blogs out there that are giving away a copy of the DVD/CD combo.  Most of them are ending today, so you better get out there and register to win.

Matt McKee (giveaway ends today, 11/5)

Sam Luce (no end date, but I’m hoping he picks a winner before 12/21/2012)

Wayne Stocks (giveaway ends today, 11/5)

Jim Wideman (giveaway ends today, 11/5)  Did I mention that Jim is Yancy’s dad?  Pretty cool, huh?

Keith Tusing (no end date listed, so register quickly so you don’t miss out)

Justyn Smith (giveaway ends today, 11/5)

And the Winner is…

Lindsey Eklund.  As of this past Friday Lindsey is the proud owner of three new God’s Kids Worship CDs.  Be sure to follow Smalltown Kidmin for more giveaways and free resources.

Close this windowWhen I started this blog, I never actually expected anybody to read it.  When people started reading, and commenting, I realized that I could benefit them by resourcing them.  I know one of my biggest struggles in our little church is finding quality resources that cost little to nothing.  Unfortunately, that is my budget and I know that is the case for many out there.

That is why I started Free Resource Friday, but there is still a desire of mine to actually put in your hand physical resources.  I’m hoping to do that through giveaways now and then.  Of course, I cannot give it away to everyone, but one lucky winner is going to get something this week.

The folks over at God’s Kids Worship have provided me a set of their Modern Worship CDs to give away to one of my readers.  You can check out my review of them hereAll you have to do is leave a comment below.  That’s it, just say “pick me” or whatever else you want to say

But, if you want an extra chance to win, tweet the following: “@pastorjaredm I just entered to win a free set of God’s Kids Modern Worship CDs u can 2 http://wp.me/p1lgcL-36 #kidmin #smalltownkidmin #free

Next Friday, 07/09, I will randomly select one person to receive a free set of the CDs.  Happy commenting!
