Details at Only144.com.  You definitely don’t want to miss this.  I’m shooting to get the Chuck Norris picture.

“Chuck Norris and Superman got into a fight.  The loser had to wear his underwear on the outside of his clothes.”

The popular Apple iPhone slogan is now a kids’ ministry curriculum.  If you are looking for a fun and relevant curriculum to use in your kids programming, take a look at the “There’s an App for That” series at Children’s Ministry Deals.  There are a variety of apps/lessons to choose from and since they are sold separately, you can pick and choose which ones you’d like.

One of the more popular lessons is Angry Words, a lesson based on the wildly popular Angry Birds game.  Here’s a summary from their site.

Angry Birds- the perfect, simply addicting game to take up hours of time and fill endless road trips.  Often our words become very similar to the bird grenades in this game. What we say has an effect on the people we speak to.  When we say unkind words to our friends or family there are consequences.

Some words just sting a little (red bird)

Some words cut (yellow bird)

Other words can hurt a group of people (blue bird)

And still other words can devastate everyone around us (bomb bird)

In this lesson, students will discover what James has to say about the power of our angry words and will learn the power of words filled with love.

Other app/lesson options include “Fruit of the Spirit Ninja,” “Maps,” “Instagram: A Decision Can Be Worth a Thousand Consequences,” “Shazam: Recognizing the Voice of God,” and more.

Each lesson is $25 and is immediately available for download.  You will receive the lesson, game, skit, object lesson, memory verse cards, icebreaker, small group discussion, summary, take home sheet, and a Powerpoint.  As an added bonus, they offer a 100% money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied.

You may or may not have noticed that there are some changes going on here at Small Town Kidmin.  One of those changes is the addition of a store

It all started with a dream.  Four and half years ago, I had a dream to provide illusions for kids’ pastors, evangelists, and young magicians at low prices.  It was a nice idea, but I quickly realized that it would be more difficult than I had planned (unfortunately not until after I had purchased my first batch of inventory).  Wading through building a webstore and accepting payment put the idea at a standstill.  Years later, I decided to attempt a catalog model reaching out to college students and beginning kids’ pastors.  This idea got almost to delivery when it was stopped by the cost of printing a full color catalog, this only after my wife had spent hours putting together a beautiful catalog.

For all these years, I’ve sat with a small amount of inventory that never made it anywhere, except to be safely stored in my garage.  I’ve finally started making those products available here.  Why now?  I’ve been given another dream, one that takes this blog to the next level of providing quality resources for individuals serving in small churches.  Unfortunately, much of this dream requires some startup funds.  My hope is that through the sale of these magic supplies, I can make enough profit to launch some of my other ideas.

In the future, I’d also like to add some books and other resources to the store.  But I’m taking baby steps.  I know it isn’t super pretty right now, but I was more worried about functionality.  Once I know everything works and I have some decent stuff available, I’m going to work on making it look good too.  Again, baby steps.

Since you’ve taken the time to read this post, I’m going to give you 5% off of any order.  Just use the coupon NEWSTORE and 5% will be deducted from your order.  Did you just skip to the end and didn’t read it?  You can still use the coupon.  It’s all good. (This coupon is only valid through July 30, 2012).

I’m a children’s pastor in the Assemblies of God.  This is something I am terribly proud of.  That pride has only increased since Spencer Click shared this video on his blog.  There are some great resources being put out that I hope will be beneficial not only to A/G churches but to churches of all denominations or of no denomination at all (for the record, the A/G is not a denomination but a “volunteer cooperative fellowship”).

I’m so grateful for the vision God has given our fellowship’s leadership, especially as it relates to kidmin.  We have some excellent leaders who are really shaking things up and working hard to resource churches in fresh and exciting ways.

My favorite part of the video is the augmented reality Fire Bible app.  I love the Fire Bible and think it is one of the best elementary bibles on the market (and love the student version as well).  To see the Bible come to life through an app takes it to a level I’ve not seen anywhere else.

What’s your favorite thing in the video?  What other new resources are coming out that you have heard about?  What resources would you like to see?

Just one of the great deals you'll find

There’s a new website out that is quite possibly one of the best resources for children’s ministry I’ve seen in a long time.  If you’re on a limited budget, you don’t want to miss it.  It’s like OVERSTOCK.COM and WOOT.COM only for children’s ministry.  They offer a limited number of deals each week on some of the best children’s ministry resources.  There’s a few catches…quantities are limited so you have to act fast, and the site is password protected, so you need to email to get the password.  They’re only sending the password to people currently serving in children’s ministry.

I’ve already checked out some the deals and they are awesome.  This is totally legit and I highly recommend you at least take the time to check it out.  Go check it out and spread the word to your friends serving in ministry.  Here is the link, http://www.childrens-ministry-deals.com

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post and Children’s MInistry Deals is a financial partner of Small Town Kidmin.  However, this is really an awesome resource and I wouldn’t have posted this if I didn’t believe in it.  Seriously, why are you still reading, you should be over at childrens-ministry-deals.com getting super cheap resources!

Welcome to Holsom: Adventures in FaithHalloween is fast approaching and I’ve already mentioned a creative family experience idea.  In that post, I shared about the need to engage culture.  I know that many people like to put some sort of evangelistic piece into the hands of kids on Halloween.  I think this is a great idea, but only if it is done well.  Something hokey only irritates kids (I’ve literally seen them throw it right away) and often frustrates non-Christian parents.

One resource I have found that presents the Gospel in an engaging way for kids is the Welcome to Holsom comics.  I’ve used the Adventures in Faith one through the years as a follow-up when a kid makes a decision to follow Christ.  I think that it could also be effectively used at Halloween.  Kids love comics and this one is fairly well written, the art is good, and it gets the kid thinking about what it means to follow Christ.

The rest of the Welcome to Holsom comic series is a little grittier and probably should be used for older elementary students or preteens, which is the target audience.  I’ve not read all of the comics, but I’ve enjoyed the ones that I have read.

A little over a week ago, I wrote that Kidzmatter was giving away an electronic edition of K! Magazine.  I did not know it at the time, but I learned last week that this was part of a much larger plan to take the entire magazine into a digital format.

Today, they’ve made the official announcement that, with every print subscription of the magazine, you will also receive a digital subscrption (click here to view a sample of what it will look like).  This is a huge advancement for the magazine.  One of the biggest hassles for me in regards to reading a magazine is that, unless I carry the thing everywhere I go, I can only read it when I have free time at home.  The new e-version of K! will be available on any mobile device or computer using the web browser.

A while back, I told you about a really great deal on children’s ministry resources from only144.com and told you shouldn’t pass it up.  I purchased one and I can say that I am completely satisifed with the resources I got for only $97.  The whole deal is kind of like Groupon for kidmin.

And now they’re at it again.  This time around, they promise the deal is even better.  You still get over $1,000 worth of kidmin resources for only $97!  The deals include a one-year subsciption to K! Magazine, six months of curriculum, and all kinds of other materials (for a full list of what is included, please visit only144.com).  In the end, you get $1,224 worth of stuff for only $97.
