Deborah was a woman. Ehud was left-handed. Gideon came from the smallest clan. All of these were strong disadvantages in the Israelite culture in the years spent in the promised land. And yet, God used each of these individuals in might ways. One of the things I love about the book of Judges (which we start on Wednesday) is the unique individuals and the unique ways they are used to bring about God’s plan of redemption.
One of the girls in my church consistently reminds me that I am “odd” and she is right. But I think it’s my eccentricities (my oddness) that enable to be an agent of God’s plan of redemption in this world. Not that I am anything special, but I believe God has created me unique for the purpose of using me to help bring about His plan in this world. I guess it may sound crazy, but God wants to use my weirdness. Maybe now my relatives will start claiming me again and quit rolling their eyes at me when I do stupid things in public.

I just discovered your blog. We are reading through the Bible with the kids at my church too. It has taught me so much preparing for the lessons and I love how much the kids are learning as well. We are going through The Day by Day Bible by Karen Henley with an accompanying devotion guide written by a local children minister. We utilized the four DVDs Phil vischer put out called What’s in the Bible. The kids have reached a new spiritual level this year already. I think it’s pretty cool how God lays similar things on cp’s hearts 🙂
I think it is so great that the kids are reading and learning from their Bibles. Glad to hear you are using Phil’s DVDs. Those things are great! Have you looked into the accompanying curriculum at all? I haven’t used it but I know some of the people working on it and I don’t doubt that it is great, as well. Here’s the link, http://curriculum.whatsinthebible.com/
One of the best things, in my opinion, about reading through the whole Bible with a plan is that you get a grasp on the full context of Scripture. Glad to hear you have made and are sticking to your commitment. I don’t doubt that it will be a beneficial to you for life.
