Tonight, I get to cross something off of my bucket list and meet one of my personal heroes.  After hearing that Phil Vischer, of Veggie Tales and What’s in the Bible fame, would be speaking less than two hours from me, my wife purchased tickets for the two of us.  I grew up a huge fan of Veggie Tales, but as I grew further into my calling towards children’s ministry, I became an admirer of the creator over the creation.  I’ve often said, to both family and friends, that I am exactly where God wants me and I am not leaving for any reason, unless Phil calls and offers me a job and then I will resign immediately.  I say this for two reasons.  One, it’s never gonna happen.  Two, I would love to be a part of the great work that Phil does and see that as a great opportunity for ministry in and of itself.

While I will be unable to get off of work in time to catch Phil for the book signing, I will at least get to hear him speak, and that is exciting to me.  I’m hoping that there will be an opportunity after the event to at least shake his hand and get my picture taken with him.  That would be a dream come true.  (Truthfully, I dreamt about it two nights in a row after my wife told me she had purchased the tickets.)

Okay, enough about me.  You’re here for one reason and that is to win a copy of What’s in the Bible.  I am giving away a copy of What’s in the Bible DVD 1.  I reviewed this video a while back.  All you need to do is tweet the following: “@pastorjaredm is giving away a copy of @whatsinthebible. Go here to enter http://wp.me/p1lgcL-eC #kidmin”  If you are not on twitter (shame on you) you can just leave a comment below telling me how you would use your copy of What’s in the Bible.

One final thing, despite what some people may argue (ahem, Wendy) I am not a creepy stalker.  However, Phil V. is like my Steve Jobs.  The way some people get about Jobs and all of his iTech, I get that way about Phil and whatever he is working on.  Like I said, he is one of my heroes.  His innovation and commitment have served to inspire me through the years.  I even dabbled in animation for a little while.  I’m not very good at it, but it stretched me to learn something new.

**I was provided this copy of What’s in the Bible by two of the fabulous ladies who work with Phil on the project.  I had a great conversation with them at Orange Conference and they graciously gave me this DVD to give away.  Thanks Melanie and Susan!
